Cancer Prevention Effects of Berries, Olive Leaves and Green Tea

September 28th, 2008

The following article gives even more comfort to my long health belief that PROSTATE CANCER and many other forms of cancer, if not all, can be prevented, ameliorated or even cured naturally, simply by applying the principles of a sound, vegan like diet, incorporating plenty of berries and herbs, together with raw fruit and vegetables. My berries and some herbs I take in the form of KAKADU JUICE, a highly potent juice blend from Kakadu International (see link below). The fruits and vegetables are, in the main, from juice extraction that my dear wife prepares daily.

(NaturalNews) Three studies presented at the American Association for Cancer Research’s Sixth Annual International Conference on Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research in Philadelphia have demonstrated the powerful cancer-fighting benefits of dark berries, green tea and olive leaves, and suggest that gels and beverages may some day be used to prevent against cancer and tumor growth.

In the first study, researchers from Ohio State University discovered that a gel based on freeze-dried black raspberries helps prevent precancerous mouth tumors (lesions) from becoming malignant.

Prostate Cancer, Erectile Dysfunction and Horny Goat Weed

September 27th, 2008

As they say “It’s all in the title”. Erectile Dysfunction appears to be one of the most debilitating and undesirable affects of PROSTATE CANCER treatments, and especially surgery but now, it seems, medical science is finally catching up with the natural world by examining the well know benefits of Horny Goat Weed. It has a well established reputation for helping to reduce erectile dysfunction.

Sept. 25, 2008 — Erectile dysfunction is nothing to laugh about. But what if ED could be helped by an extract from a plant called horny goat weed?

Horny goat weed and related herbs have purportedly been treatments for sexual dysfunction for years.

Now scientists may be a step closer to discovering how compounds from horny goat weed may work.

The ability to get and maintain an erection depends upon blood flowing into the penis and staying there long enough. One way drugs like Viagra work is to inhibit an enzyme called PDE-5, thereby keeping blood flowing to the penis.

Online Risk Calculator For Prostate Cancer

September 24th, 2008

Today I offer this titillating report from MedPage Today, together with its online video for your information.

Seemingly, differing points of view are held within the medical profession as to the best methodology to be used developing the most accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer and vis-a-vis; accuracy of the subjective prognosis. And not forgetting the very involved, varied and nerve-racking treatment options in each individual case, usually selected by the patient under the guidance and advice of the medical professional.

Perhaps of greater benefit to the medical professional it does seem to me that this tool, in giving some positive rationale to the doctor’s decision making process, will thereby giving some added comfort to the patient. We can but hope.

BOSTON, Sept. 23 — A free, Internet-based prostate cancer risk calculator can provide clinicians with evidence-based information about the likelihood that a patient will develop metastatic disease and about the relative merits of the treatment options, developers of the program said here.

Lycopene From Tomato Oil May Reverse Prostate Cancer

September 22nd, 2008

Numerous research articles have been published over the years concerning the benefit to be gained from consuming cooked, or otherwise processed, tomato paste and sauces as a cancer preventative. The active ingredient being Lycopene. Now it seems, researchers are finding that Lycopene may also be able to reverse the effects of cancer. That you will agree, is a quantum leap but it does appear to be well substantiated. Enjoy the article and please note the other, related articles, appearing on the same page..

ScienceDaily (Nov. 19, 2004) — CHICAGO — Lycopene, an antioxidant commonly found in tomatoes and tomato-based products, is commonly perceived to reduce the risk of developing prostate cancer.

A new study at Northwestern University seeks to determine whether natural tomato oil with a high concentration of lycopene may reverse or delay progression of high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (HGPIN), a condition in which abnormal cells form within the prostate and which is the strongest risk factor yet identified for the development of prostate cancer.

Pan Pharmaceuticals Boss Off The Hook

September 19th, 2008

This is fantastic news as will be appreciated by those of you who have followed the unconscionable TGA litigation debacle against one of Australia’s biggest pharmaceutical companies and it’s owner, Jim Selim. (see my previous posts dated 23rd and 25th August 2008)

The TGA case against both the company and Mr Selim fell apart several weeks ago and now the related criminal case against Mr Selim has been expunged by the Court. Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant news.

This case can but show the extreme danger of placing too much unfettered power into the hands of a government instrumentality and its bureaucratic minions, without the required checks and balances being in place. In the USA the very same problem exists with the FDA. Time and time again the FDA has exhibited considerable bias in favour of commercial entities, the major drug companies, from whom they received the greater part of their funding.
