Robotic Surgery for his Kidney Cancer and Prostate Cancer
There is no doubt that progress in surgical technique is moving forward in leaps and bounds and the following example exemplifies that. A patient had both his kidney and prostate cancer removed in the one operation – through a small incision – using robotic technology. Brilliant work!
Undoubtedly robotic surgery has a great many advantages for the patient over the time consuming and painful alternative but one can only wonder at the potential risk of serious side effects as is normally associated with the removal of the prostate. According to this report such risks are, in fact, minimized but one would expect the surgeon, who is advocating and exploring this new procedure, to say that wouldn’t you? Certainly, on th face of it though, it would appear that for those choosing the conventional medical approach to treat their prostate cancer, robotic surgery is the way to go.
