Another off-topic with little or nothing to do with prostate cancer diagnosis or treatment options but something that goes to the very heart of how drugs for cancer treatment and other health issues are developed and marketed by drug companies and approved for use by the Food & Drug Administration, FDA.
Now some guys outside of the US, as indeed I am, may be wondering why the shenanigans of the FDA should matter to the rest of the world. Well, it jolly well does. Health authorities and drug administrators throughout the world tend to take their lead from the US FDA primarily, I guess, because most of the major drug companies are owned, or part owned, by American firms.
Accordingly, many countries set their own drug safety protocols in line with those of the US. Therefor, skulduggery within the US drug production and administration system flows on to the rest of the world in one form or another. Usually, in much higher product costs.
Almost daily, we hear allegations of corrupt practices involving the drug companies and also the FDA, but it is not often that an insider with position and influence, dares to speak out and give a first hand account of what is actually going on within the FDA.
