Can The Cause of Prostate Cancer Be Psychological?

Greetings! Nice of you to visit again.

The title of the following article, from the Atlanta Wellness Examiner is a bit misleading in that it has less to do with, as it says “A Woman’s Guide to Understanding Prostate Cancer” than it does with suggesting that cancer is caused by psychological trauma immediately preceding the cancer.

From my own perspective, having personally experienced a number of catastrophic events both as a soldier and, in civilian life, as a crisis manager handling extortion, bombings, kidnappings and other terrorist and major crime activity in Australia and overseas, I can readily identify with the contention that such events can lead to the early development of disease, including cancer. I have a pretty well defined time-line for each of my major illnesses following psychological trauma of the kind mentioned.

Thankfully, I have little or no trauma to speak of on the family front. Mine was all related to my profession. I lived much of the time on adrenalin. Even today, at my late age, I perform best when my adrenalin is pumping like mad. Small wonder I have health issues.

And so, to wind this up. Although I certainly do identify with the premise of the article I do not entirely agree that such trauma is the cause, per se. Highly emotional Psychological events could, however, be the trigger that starts a biological chain reaction leading to changes in the molecular structure of cells, initiating cancer.

Such beliefs are consistent with the mind controlling everything in the body. If only we could learn to control our minds.

Please note that the article has several links worth clicking on to follow up on even more information on this thesis as well as an interesting video on prostate cancer surgery.
