Glutathione versus Glutamine?

Glutathione is an antioxidant, one of the human body’s most powerful antioxidant particles,
while glutamine is an amino acid. However, Glutathione is also said to be an amino acid but a different kind,
as it is a material resulting from several types of amino acids. This material is also beneficial to the body
as an antioxidant as these help avoid cancer from occurring by preventing carcinogens and other cancer-causing
substances from damaging important cellular components in a human body.

Both Glutamine and Glutathioneare already naturally produced by the human body; however, both can also still be
enhanced further by outside sources such as natural Glutathione supplement and Glutamine supplement. These two
substances may seem the same, but, their roles and effects on the body are quite different from each other.

Glutathione, The long name for this is glutamylcysteinylglycine and as mentioned above, it is an antioxidant and
is also made from several kinds of amino acids, such as glutamate, cysteine and glycine. You might have also noticed
that the long name of Glutathione includes these three amino acids.

One of Glutathione’s major roles is to control the kinds of bonds created between proteins and other substances in
one’s body. Another one of its many roles is to help the human body absorb and make use of other amino acids.
There are many varieties of natural GLUTATHIONE supplement nowadays, so, it is best that you are familiar with their
benefits:

1. Anti-aging. This is one of the well-known benefits for these supplements. This antioxidant recycles both vitamins C
and E which helps in protecting the body against the causes of aging.

2. Detoxifies the body. This antioxidant also benefits in being able to control immune cells and detoxify parts of the
body, for example, the liver. Another way Glutathione helps in cleansing the body is by getting rid of unwanted heavy
metals such as mercury.

Glutamine

Glutamine may also be an amino acid just like Glutathione, but it is the richest one in the human body. Glutamine has
an essentialrole and that is to eliminate ammonia, a waste product, from the body. Its other roles also include maintaining
the normal function of one’s immune system, digestive system and brain.

There are numerous Glutamine supplements these days and they are available in forms of medication or even raw foods.
The medications, however, are sensitive to heat, so, it is advised that they be taken with water at a cold or room temperature.

The benefits of Glutamine supplement include:

• Helps keep the brain healthy by providing various substances such as Glutamic acid and gamma-aminobutyric acid which also
help the brain to function well. This also aids in the mental health of a person to help them think properly and clearly, therefore,
avoiding cases of mental illnesses.

• Like Glutathione, it also promotes anti-aging by slowing down the causes and effects of aging.

• Other benefits of Glutamine supplement are helping in maintaining the proper function of kidneys and also to boost one’s immune
system to prevent them from sickness and infections.

• These vitamins can also help by healing wounds faster.

What Exactly Is in a Probiotic Formula?

Everyone has heard about probiotics. Doctors are recommending them to many of their patients, and they are also easily found in many supermarkets and drug stores. They are being advertised on television, in magazines, and in newspapers. But what exactly is probiotics?Throughout our entire body, we have living bacteria living in a mutual relationship with our body. As humans, we do not bother or harm these bacteria unless a disease is harming us.And these bacteria do not harm humans but actually help us function properly. These bacteria live everywhere throughout our body; inside of our mouths, the bottom of our intestines and even on the outer layer of our skin. Our body utilizes these organisms to the best of its ability to help the body fight off infection if needed, or in general to help the body function.

In the gastrointestinal tract, humans have many different types of these bacteria living there. Bacteria in the stomach thrive in extremely acidic conditions, which is why the stomach and intestines are filled with bacteria.

These organisms help the body break down food into vital nutrients that it needs to work properly, such as different types of vitamins and minerals.

When the bacteria levels in the gut become low, probiotics are almost always taken orally in order to replenish these bacteria that the body needs for digestion.

Probiotics are a supplement containing the live bacteria inside it. Once the capsule is taken, it dissolves in the gastrointestinal system allowing for the bacteria to be replenished.

The most common type of live culture found in probiotic supplements is Lactobacillus, Bafidiobacteria, and L. acidophilus.

All three of these bacteria aid in the digestion in humans by breaking down nutrients. It is important to understand that only good bacteria are used in creating probiotic supplements. Bacteria that are beneficial to the body and are naturally found in the digestive tract of the body are the only type of bacteria used in these supplements.

There are many types of microorganisms living, which can be either harmful or beneficial to the body. Scientists and manufacturers of probiotics are specifically only using the beneficial bacteria that are naturally found in the gastrointestinal tract of humans.

Probiotic supplements are taken orally, and can come in either a pill or liquid type. Each serve the same purpose, and there are different types of probiotics solely for the purpose of preference by the patient. A doctor may prescribe one versus another, but either way liquid versus oral pill will do the same exact thing.

There is a type of PROBIOTIC called “multi-probiotic” which simply means there is more than one type of bacteria found in this supplement.

This type is beneficial to patients with multiple gastrointestinal problems, and also will allow patients who have low bacteria counts in their gastrointestinal tract to quickly bring their bacteria count back up to normal healthy levels.

Although this probiotic is less common, it still serves the same benefits as a normal probiotic that only contains one type of bacteria.

The American Sound Bite – homeopathy: Out of nowhere, my husband turned to me and said, “I wish you’d tell me what you do so I can tell other people. They ask me what you do and I can’t explain it.” “I’m a psychotherapist and a consultant in classical homeopathy,” I stared at him. “You know what I do.” “But I can never explain it quickly enough. I tell them ‘re-balancing,’ ‘rewiring,’ ‘peeling the skin off onions,’ but then I lose myself. I can’t come up with a simple way to describe it.”

This is the worst problem for a homeopath. How do we explain an exquisitely subtle and complex process in a simple way? Take something so important and put it in a sound bite? I remember a long time ago having to try to explain Verbal First Aid in five seconds or less for a three minute TV news interview. I totally blew it. I’m not very good at sound bites. But that is what we want in this country- drive through information, fast-food for the mind. If we can’t eat it in the time it takes to reach for the remote, the opportunity to communicate is lost.

But there is hope, because we do like stories. So, I thought that perhaps the best way to communicate what I do is to share with you a few cases. The first one is my own. The others (in Part II of this article) are patients with their identities protected. I have never shared my own story before, but I do so because I believe its dramatic nature will help you to understand what classical homeopathy can do and why some people are so passionate about it.

The Mysterious Case of the Disappearing Mass Many years ago, I suddenly developed abdominal pain. I had not been sick in any other way and had no idea what was happening. I went for a gynecological exam and was told I was fine. The pain continued. I went back and after numerous exams was sent from the table to the couch. The psychiatrist sent me right back to the doctor. After about a year of bouncing back and forth with increasingly intense (searing, stabbing) pain, they finally “discovered” a mass several centimeters in width in the area of my left ovary. At this point, the surgeons were called in.

Thank God Its Not Cancer

I was scheduled for an emergency laparotomy. As they wheeled me in, the surgeon said to my mother, “It could be cancer.” I was 26. After surgery, as soon as I stopped vomiting, the doctor told me that it was not cancer. My mother wept. He said it was a streptococcal infection (Strep B) that had created adhesion’s and that I could forget about having children. He proudly went on to inform us that they had “scraped me clean” and that I’d be on antibiotics for about a month. I did as I was told. I was raised by a doctor, surrounded by doctors, and had complete faith in the system.

Searching For The Truth

Within a short time a whole new sort of pain emerged, this time, however, deeper. It was more localized, again on the left side. I thought the infection had returned. The pain continued for quite a while. I went to the doctor, but there was no infection. After dismissing it (and me) for at least a year again, I finally wound up in hospital. A cyst had burst. This cycle recurred every few months. They recommended birth control pills, pain pills, and pills I didn’t understand. Nothing helped. By the fourth rupture and hospital visit, they recommended a full hysterectomy. I sat silently until I could take a deep breath again. I asked if there were no other options. The doctor said, “You’ll just keep getting them and since you can’t get pregnant anyway, this is the best idea.” I told him I would think about it. He told me not to think too long but looked at me is if I couldn’t think at all.

I called a friend who had been talking about homeopathy. She used homeopathy for herself and had located a homeopathic vet. I asked for more information. She sat with me. She loaned me books. And she gave me the name of a doctor. I decided to at least try something before I let my reproductive center be removed forever. I told my gynecologist about it. He said, and I quote, “You can use all the weed quackery you want, it won’t help.” I said, “We shall see.” And I meant “we.” I had no more experience in it than he did. But I wanted some option other than organ removal. He did not escort me out. He was more than mildly annoyed. But I was on a mission.

My Homeopathy Experience Saves Me

Where the Magic Began this is what saved me: a young doctor with a tattered copy of a repertory (the book that is used to look up symptoms and match them to different remedies) and another equally frayed Materia Medica (the book that contains full descriptions of the remedies themselves) in a basement office in New Rochelle, NY. It was the strangest medical experience I’d ever had. He didn’t examine me the way I had expected. He talked to me. Well, actually, he talked very little. He asked me endless questions: Where is the pain? When does it come on? What happened then? What does it feel like? What makes it better? Do you have any food cravings? Do you kick your feet out of the covers? Do you like other people around you? Are you warm? Cold? What makes you afraid? Anxious? Sad? He was relentless. Two hours of questions that could not seem more unrelated to me or to my ovaries.

But honestly, it was such a relief to have someone listen to me without judgment that I suspended my own. At the end of the interview, he went into a little closet, pulled out an amber bottle, opened the cap, poured a few pellets into the cap, tipped my head back, and said, “Open your mouth.” He poured the little pellets under my tongue. That was my first remedy. It was Pulsatilla, a common flower in highly diluted (potentized) form. After that, my mood improved slightly but briefly and the physical symptoms did not go away. Instead they shifted and got worse. I’ve learned since then that this can happen when a remedy is close but not a bull’s eye.

The symptoms became far more localized and presented with greater clarity. It seemed to me then that it was like a boil coming to a head, collecting the “illness” from a large area and concentrating it so it could be seen properly and discharged. We waited a very uncomfortable month. After the second interview he gave me Thuja. After that I had a frankly rude aggravation (cystitis) which lasted about a month and the cystic pain completely disappeared.

Symptomatic Aggravation Spells Success

An aggravation is what homeopaths hope for as the sign that a cure is beginning. It is also precisely what allopathic doctors find wholly inconsistent with their training. They are supposed to make symptoms go away, not generate others. But because homeopaths see the human organism as a moving, dynamic system, they believe that this discharge is absolutely necessary. Aggravations are like siphons; they allow previously suppressed diseases or eruptions a way out of the system. In homeopathic philosophy, it is part of the cure. But I didn’t know that at the time. So I called him and complained, and after he ruled out any dangerous infections, he said “Now, we wait.” I’d call him back, still annoyed, uncomfortable, and worried. And he said, again, “WAIT!” So, I did. After a while, the “rudeness” was gone and so was all the pain.

And, after a year I realized so were the cysts. None of it-not the cysts or the strep or any of that pain- has ever come back. More important, perhaps, than the physical relief, was that over the next couple of years I became calmer, more centered. Much of the insecurity that had ruled my life up until that point also seemed to just not be there. I didn’t see it leaving. It was just gone when I remembered to look for it. That was a very long time ago.

All my exams are still splendidly normal and I still have my own organs in my own body. I went on to need other remedies over time to deal with other issues and wound up with a different remedy as my “constitutional,” the one that seems to fit my overall being. But this is how it started. And it convinced me on a cognitive and cellular level that what I had experienced was more than placebo or fanciful wish-fulfillment. As far as I could see, it could not be a placebo (although that would have been just fine with me at that point), because one remedy missed the mark, but the other did not. And as far as wish-fulfillment-if it had been up to me, I’m sure I would have wished for instant relief-sans aggravation! In the follow up article, we’ll look at a couple of other cases to demonstrate the most important principle of HOMEOPATHY: like cures like.

Millions of cancer patients are still blindly undergoing chemotherapy, radiation and surgery – putting their health at great risk and killing their only chance of beating their cancer. Over the years I have carefully avoided these barbaric treatment and relied heavily upon natural, alternative therapies when dealing with several different types of cancer. With one diagnosis, according to my doctors I should have died in 2001. And with another cancer, I am entering my seventh year since diagnosis without any perceived symptoms even although I was assured that having conventional medical treatment was essential to get me past the five year mark.

Although I have not yet tried the therapy recommended in the book: The One Minute Cure, I know several who have… with great success. And having now purchased the book and researched its recommendations I am personally convinced of its value. I am now awaiting delivery of the product itself and will commence taking it shortly.

I really do believe YOU CAN HEAL YOUR CANCER.

Even though I currently have no symptoms from my aggressive prostate cancer I can’t be absolutely sure of its status. I believe my current diet and natural therapy regimen is working brilliantly but I can’t be sure about that with having a biopsy. And that, my friends is definitely not acceptable to me. Why not, did I hear you ask? Medical research shows quite conclusively a very high risk of causing a metastasis with any invasive procedure carried out on a cancer patient. Mind you, that is not something you doctor will tell you.

Although my primary focus is on alternative treatments for prostate cancer I nevertheless spend time also, keeping up to speed with the latest research and studies for conventional treatments. One of the best online websites for this has to be TTMed Urology. It provides a valuable resource for urologists and therefor can get a little too technical for the layman at times but that's not the stuff you want anyhow. Get past the technical, medical jargon and the information is spot on. A great way to keep up with Urology News and for best the latest, conventional medical, advice on your Urology problems,

Anyhow, why not give it a try. You'll need to subscribe, I suggest as a student or such, but there is no cost.

The prime objective of Alternative Treatments for Prostate Cancer is the optimizing of one's immune defense, providing the foundation, or base, upon which all other treatments are able to work. An essential part of that optimization is with the taking of dietary nutrients, minerals and other vitamin supplements.

Where at all possible though, I would emphasize, these should be acquired through 'natural' sources, particularly organic foods, fruit and vegetables. However, this is not always possible given the depleted state of soils sorely lacking in natural goodness, plus the over processing and contamination; with additives such as chemical coloring and preservatives, of food in general.

It is both natural and reasonable therefor for people to seek the answer to their daily needs through supplements. And why not? As I have mentioned in earlier posts, research on this point shows there has never ever been a death attributed to the proper use of VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS.

Vitamin Supplements Do They Work?

After the loss of a kidney to cancer in 1995, I relied heavily on supplements to fortify me against the high probability of metastasis. It apparently worked. And again, since diagnosis of an aggressive prostate cancer in 2006, I have spent a small fortune on supplements to support my objective of managing the cancer using natural therapies only. And six years later I live to tell the tale.

A word of caution though. It goes without saying that even the best vitamin supplements must be used wisely and only after diligent study of the individual need and the perceived benefits and possible conflicts.

Vitamin Supplements Review

A recent study in the US of 40,000 women aged between 59 to 69 years, found that those using multivitamins and several other VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS were more likely to be among the16,000 women who died during the period of the study, about 19 years.

This "observational" study is full of flaws, inaccuracies and supposition, as well as extreme bias. So much so that it is reasonable to suggest that the outcomes were determined even before the study was commenced.

Well, my response to the report is, Poppycock and Balderdash!

The study is nothing more than another attempt by major drug companies, using their symbiotic relationship with the cancer industry, to disparage the Vitamin supplements manufacturing industry, which is making major inroads into the marketing and profits of drug companies world-wide.

For example, almost 50% of American's using supplements. A figure that is increasing annually as it is in many other countries. But you may disagree. And so, for a balanced and objective view, please go to: http://www.cihfimediaservices.org/12all/lt.php?c=158&m=235&nl=3&s=ca50ec822101210cdd761f08ebc6542a&lid=1479&l=-http–orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/index.shtml and view the first item on the list titled "What Kind of Medical Study Would Have Grandma Believe that Her Daily Multivitamin is Dangerous? ALSO…

PSA blood test screening can cause more harm than good to unsuspecting patients.

The debate concerning whether or not men over 50 years of age should undergo routine PSA blood test screening has been around for a number of years and always raises considerable controversy. With each new study we get a different finding to the previous one. Even oncologists and urologists are unable to find agreement within their respective specialty. What cannot be disputed is that the overwhelming evidence is that PSA blood test screening are in themselves unreliable and to some degree, subjective, as relates to the proficiency and expertise of the pathologist doing the blood analysis. Two identical samples tested by two pathologists will often produce two differing results. It is not surprising then that PSA BLOOD TEST SCREENING invariably subject patients to unnecessary inconvenience, anguish, pain and expense enduring follow up tests or procedures, or both, and which can cause impotence and incontinence. Moreover, there is no evidence to say that such treatment actually saves lives. So why do it? We must recognize here that general practitioners will always take what is for them is a legally safe stance, by referring patients on to oncology or urology specialists. Not only is this a risk averse position it is more often than not, a financially profitable one because of the additional testing and clinical procedures or simply, referral income. Medical Practitioners are, after all, running a business. Similarly, oncologists and urologists cannot always be specific in their diagnosis of prostate cancer and again, must take a risk averse stance and recommend whatever tests or procedures are necessary to make their diagnosis, and subsequent prognosis, a clinically sound one. They too will always err on the side of over-diagnosis rather than risk under-diagnosis. All of the above gives considerable impetuous to my long held contention that prostate cancer patients MUST take charge of their own health and well-being. Before conceding to a PSA blood test screening a chap should arm himself with information and knowledge from careful study and research, sufficient to permit him to make his own decision without having to rely solely on medical opinion. How can one talk intelligently with one's doctor without having any idea what he's talking about. It is the very reason most men take allopathic medicine’s, burning, cutting and poisoning option in the first place. Without information and knowledge on the subject they are unable to forcefully discuss their personal wishes or promote other options. The latest study, revealed by way of a draft report, comes from a rather august body, the US Preventive Services Task Force, following five carefully monitored clinical trials.

"Unfortunately, the evidence now shows that this test does not save men's lives," said Dr. Virginia Moyer, a professor of pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and chairwoman of the task force. "This test cannot tell the difference between cancers that will and will not affect a man during his natural lifetime. We need to find one that does."

The actual report and recommendations will be published in about one weeks time. I will try to being you an update then. Why not check out my other posts on this subject. 12 October: See the latest on this study: http://www.nationaljournal.com/healthcare/psa-test-report-shows-difficulty-of-weighing-evidence-20111010
