D-Day Delayed

Due to a mixup with appointment dates (“honest guv, it wasn’t me”) I didn’t get to see my urologist today, as planned. I’ll phone tomorrow for a new appointment and to get my PSA results. What a bummer!

Meanwhile, last evening I did a quick analysis of my recent blood pressure history. The mean average for the month to-date, is 149/90. But more interesting perhaps, is the improvement seen when taking the Karvea tablets. I’m not sure that my measurements are very scientific though as they were taken over two different lengths of time. Let me explain…

I used 17 readings recorded over the period from 11th August to 0500hrs on the 14th August, when not using the Karvea tablets, to produce a mean average of 167/96.

At 0515hrs on the same day, 15th August, I took my first Karvea tablet and then, over the next 24 hours, made almost hourly readings of my blood pressure, again totalling 17 checks, to produce a mean average for the period of 150/91.

On the basis of consuming just one Karvea tablet that is a remarkably good improvement but is it a valid test? Can one conduct such an analysis over two distinct lengths of time? I really don’t know. But on my past experience with this method (tablets) of BP control it doesn’t stand up.

During June I found that taking prescription tablets did reduce my BP to a degree, but I had much better results just by moving to Sydney, to stay with my son and his family for two weeks. That suggested to me much of my BP problem could be primarliy related to my environment. Though that too has to be questioned when one considers that I live 30kms from the nearest principal town; on a property surrounded by parkland and just metres from the ocean and with 15 kilometres of beatiful coastal walks.

Perhaps all I need is a month or two in Fiji. Would that put me right, d’you think?
