Prostate Cancer Survival Rates Vary by Country

Hi guys.

The following report appears to the first of its kind and is quite revealing. Surviving various forms of cancer, including, of course, prostate cancer, could well depend on the country in which you live and even the state or region within that country. Moreover, in the US it is one thing to have cancer if you are white but if you’re black, it’s another.

Add to that of course an acute reliance on the care, responsibility and skill of your medical professional, be it the oncologist, urologist or whoever, you really are in the lap of the gods.

Justification indeed, for ensuring that persons newly diagnosed carefully weigh up the pro’s and con’s relating to their treatment options and that they don’t get “bullied” into one direction or another.

Algeria had the lowest survival rates for all four cancers.

“This is the first direct comparison of so many countries as far as I am aware,” says Michel Coleman, MD, a professor of epidemiology and vital statistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the study’s lead author.
