Vitamins and Supplements. The Dangers of Selective Science.
This post has subject matter not directly related to Cancer or Prostate Cancer, but it is nevertheless most pertinent for anyone harboring a major illness and perhaps reliant on vitamins and supplements, especially for enhancing or maintaining their immune system.
From time to time you will probably have seen negative comment in the print media about the supposed dangers of vitamins and supplements and often bundled under the “Antioxidants” label. Those who try to analyze such statements; endeavoring to look behind the written word to identify its origin and funding source, invariably find that it stems from powerful commercial entities determined to destroy the Natural Health industry because of a perceived threat to their own global business interests,
Below is a very succinct rebuttal of a recent disparaging meta-analysis concerning “anti-oxidants”. I’m sure you will note the synergy of it as being both health related and in parallel with my previous post. As Spiderman once accepted, “with great power comes great responsibility”. Such words should also be heeded by scientists pulling together data for meta-analyses, before damage is unnecessarily done to an industry based on the prevention, and not the cure, of disease.
Meta-analyses are selective, and for this very reason they are also controversial - which studies do they include and exclude, and why?
